In order to play fast, your team needs to keep it simple. The Air Raid 5v5 playbook uses a single formation to pressure the defense. Since the formation is the same every play, your players don’t have to think about where to go. Their sole focus becomes executing their assignment.

Each position in the Air Raid flag football offense has a unique profile. Don’t worry if you don’t have the most skilled athletes or the most talent on the field. There is a spot for every player, regardless of experience or skill level; and the scheme will help close any athletic gaps between you and a more talented opponent.
- Red QB
- Profile: Best overall football player, not necessarily the best athlete. Needs a combination of arm talent, athleticism, football IQ, and leadership. Passion for the learning the game.
- Alignment: 4 yards behind the TE/C.
- Stance: Relaxed. Feet can be even or staggered. Hands in front ready to take the snap.
- Orange WR
- Profile: Best all-around receiver. Good combination of athleticism, hands, and route running.
- Alignment: Left side of the formation. On the line of scrimmage. Four yards from the sideline.
- Stance: Relaxed WR stance. Inside foot up. Arms hanging comfortably. Eyes looking down the line at the ball.
- Blue TE/C
- Profile: Athleticism is not as necessary. Making good snaps is most important. Willing to work extra with coaches and QBs to perfect them. Reliable outlet option when needed.
- Alignment: Middle of the field where the referee places the ball.
- Stance: Three point stance. Rear end low enough to see the defense but not so low that they can’t get the ball to the QB in shotgun. Dominate hand on the ball. Other hand ready to fire out (not resting on the thigh or knee).
- Green SLOT
- Profile: Elusive athlete with decent hands. Capable of avoiding flag pulls to turn short catches into long gains. Shifty.
- Alignment: Halfway between Blue and Purple receivers.
- Stance: Relaxed WR stance. Inside foot up. Arms hanging comfortably. Eyes looking down the line at the ball.
- Purple WR
- Profile: A deep threat who can stretch the field. Fast but not necessarily quick. Taller players who can win jump balls when necessary.
- Alignment: Right side of the formation. On the line of scrimmage. Four yards from the sideline.
- Stance: Relaxed WR stance. Inside foot up. Arms hanging comfortably. Eyes looking down the line at the ball.
While, some offenses use a large number of formations to confuse their opponent, the Air Raid 5v5 playbook purposefully goes against that logic, instead forcing defensive mistakes by placing so fast that the defense can’t keep up. Simplicity and speed beats complexity. Wear them out.
